2. Redeem Rewards Points for Free Hoodies

For someone who loves to shop online, reaping rewards for free goodies or discounts may no longer be surprising. So, it’s a good idea that if you have a favorite brand, check out if they have a rewards program and sign up to get the best of what they have to offer.

You can also join survey sites or rewards sites where you can earn points in various ways such as by watching videos, reviewing a product, and so on. And then, redeem your points for gift cards that you can use to buy clothing, or even for cash. Some survey sites that you can check out for yourself are Swagbucks, Survey Junkie, and Inbox Dollars.

3. Redeem Cashback Rewards

Aside from joining survey sites and a particular store’s rewards program, you can also run to cashback sites like Ibotta and Rakuten.

These sites work differently in some ways, but both can get you closer to getting your free hoodies, and other freebies and deals online.

4. Join the Freecycle.org Community

Freecyle.org is an online community with over nine million members stretched out in different chapters worldwide. The site is all about reuse and reducing the amount of stuff that goes into landfills. Everything that is listed on the site should be given away for free, so you don’t have to pay for anything.

If you are looking for free hoodies, then, there’s a high chance that you can get some from this online network. To sign up, find your community by entering it in the allotted box on their website, or by clicking the “Browse Group” button that is found on the upper left side of the header.

5. Shop for Free Clothing at Community Clothes Closet

Free hoodies are just some of the clothing items that you can take home for free by shopping at Community Clothes Closet. They are located in Menasha, Wisconsin, so, you’ve got to be in the neighborhood or at least in nearby locations to make your trip worthwhile.

Community Clothes Closet provides free clothing to those who were referred to them by any human service organization, school, or church. Once registered, you can shop at their location twice a month for up to a year to help you get back on your feet. Registered clients also need to book their appointment ahead of time to abide by the COVID-19 health protocols.

6. Check Out FREE Hoodie Giveaways on Social Media

Follow your favorite brands on their social media accounts, and be alert for seasonal giveaways like during Valentine’s, their anniversary, and so on. If they are about to launch a new product, sometimes brands would also resort to giveaways to create a buzz and generate interest among shoppers online.

If you don’t mind getting a free hoodie from random shops on Instagram, you can also try using hashtags to locate current giveaways. You can start with #freehoodies, #giveaway, #freestuff and #freesweaters.

  • Here are several examples:
    • Locals Only Long Island account held a hoodie giveaway earlier this year.
    • American Giant gave away 100 free hoodies. Instead of giving the freebie to the people joining the giveaway, they asked to nominate other people who inspire them to train harder.

Note that giveaways on social media usually require you to tag others to join in on the fun as a requirement. This is an effective way of increasing followers, while giving back to their loyal followers.

And aside from Instagram, you can also check your local yard sale groups on Facebook. You may not find free hoodies, but you can most probably find some very good deals.

7. Contact Colleges and Universities

If you are wondering how to get free hoodies from colleges, you will be surprised to know that it’s just simple. First, create an email template expressing your interest to enroll at a certain school. Collect as many school email addresses as you can, and send a letter to all of them. Don’t forget to tweak the email template for each school.

Chances are if you’ve convinced them that you are really interested in applying, they might send you a free college hoodie, a free shirt, and some other school goodies.

8. Check Out Craigslist

Although Craigslist is popular as an online buying and selling platform, you can still find a great deal of free clothing on this site. For free hoodies and other free stuff, you can click on the “free” link found in the “for sale” section of the website.

9. Participate in Referral Programs

There are several retail shops with referral programs where members can earn free clothes by referring the shop to their friends, family members, or even to random people who might be interested. Some businesses and shops with well-known retail programs are ThredUp, Swap.com, Rent the Runway, and Stitch Fix.

10. Join Hoodie Swaps

Every November, Champion hosts a National Hoodie Swap Day in a couple of their select locations. During this event, people are encouraged to bring any of their pre-owned hoodies and swap them for a new Champion hoodie.

The swapped hoodies were then donated to Refried Apparel (a sustainable lifestyle brand that reused the hoodie materials to make new items).

Did you know what year were hoodies invented? When did hoodies come into fashion?

Although a version of the hoodie can be traced as far as the 12th century, the contemporary hoodie we wear today actually only appeared in the 1930s. It was also Champion that coined the invention of the original hoodie for athletes to use as a warm-up or “sideline” garment for wear in-between game time or practice sessions.

You can also try to ask (it’s free and you won’t lose anything if you ask). Go to their Contact page on their official website, or copy their e-mail address and write the brand about the possibility of receiving free hoodies.

If you’re feeling open, share your story of why a hoodie can help you out. Make sure to leave your home address with your “letter,” since some brands just mail out stuff without replying.
