Ulta is one of the best places to find health, beauty, and makeup products, but if you haven’t claimed an Ulta birthday gift, you haven’t experienced the perks of being an Ultamate Rewards member yet.

Just like Sephora’s popular birthday gift freebies, the Ulta beauty birthday gift promotion has been around for years. Many fans watch out for Ulta’s announcement at the start of the year and the beginning of each month.

How Does Ulta Birthday Gift Work?

Ulta Beauty has its own rewards program (called Ultamate Rewards). As part of this program, all registered users are given a FREE gift during their birthday month.

As long as you’ve opted to receive Ulta newsletters, you’ll receive a coupon for your birthday gift via email on or after your birthday. You can claim this birthday coupon online or in-store within 30 days from receipt.

Aside from this, Ulta Beauty also offers bonus points multiplied by 2 on all purchases in your birthday month. If you’re a Platinum or Diamond Rewards member, you receive an extra $10-off coupon, too!

How Can You Claim an Ulta Birthday Gift?

Anyone can join the Ultamate Rewards program. Here are the steps to claim your birthday present from Ulta Beauty:

  • Sign up for Ultamate Rewards at least one month before your birthday. Use an email address that you check regularly.
  • Watch out for the birthday greeting email. Sometimes, this is sent at the start of your birthday month. Other times, you’ll get it exactly on your birthday or after your birthday. Be on the lookout for this email since the coupon (or link to the free gift) will be attached here.
  • USE THE COUPON: You can do it online or offline at brick-and-mortar Ulta stores.
    • ONLINE: Activate your coupon by clicking the offer in the email and using it online (while logged on to your account). You can also search “birthday gift” from the Ulta Beauty website and add to cart the product like normal. Note that the retail price will be added to your basket, but once you’ve entered the coupon code, the gift should come out as free.
    • IN-STORE: If you’re going to use it in-store, you could print the coupon or open the Ultamate Rewards app and scan your phone upon checkout. You can also show your loyalty card or give the sales associate your phone number and they should be able to confirm your account and your birthday.

You don’t have to rush, though. The Ulta birthday gift doesn’t have to be claimed exactly on your birthday. The email that includes the birthday coupon should also have a barcode and expiration date attached to it.

Enjoy your gift! If you’re a Platinum or Diamond member, you might get an extra birthday gift in addition to these gifts.

In the first week of January 2022, Ulta already announced the MAIN GIFT for every month of 2022.

Note that if you can’t go in-store, you have the default option of picking Clinique Quickliner For Eyes Intense in Intense Ebony Travel Size (.005oz/.14g), which is valued at $10 and is only available for online checkout.

Here are some of the most common questions about Ulta’s birthday rewards program:

Does Ulta do birthday gifts?

Celebrants do not receive the same birthday gifts for a particular year. However, Ulta does give away free birthday gifts to all its UltaMate Rewards members:

  • Regular UltaMate Rewards members get two birthday gifts
  • Platinum/Diamond Reward members get three birthday gifts

Note that the birthday gift changes every month. This is usually announced in January and again at the start of every month.

How do I change my birthday with Ulta?

You just have to log into your Ulta account, update your personal info and change your birthday. However, this will only work if you were unable to enter your birthdate when creating the account.

If you wish to change your birthday listed in your account, you’d have to contact Ulta’s customer service.

I Didn’t Get an Ulta Beauty Birthday Gift Coupon. Why is that so?

Ulta usually sends birthday coupons on the 1st and 15th of the month.

Rewards members who have recently purchased are included in the first batch, while new accounts and rewards members without recent transaction history are grouped in the second batch.

You don’t need to make a purchase at Ulta Beauty to receive your free birthday gift. However, you do need to have recent purchase history to receive the offer.

If you shopped at the Ulta store online or offline recent and still didn’t receive your coupon, it might be in your email’s spam folder. If not, contact customer service and request your birthday coupon code manually.

What is the Ulta $10 Birthday Coupon?

This is exclusive to Platinum and Diamond members. On top of the birthday gift coupon, Platinum and Diamond members are qualified for a $10 coupon as well.

What Other Birthday Freebies Can I get at Ulta Beauty?

All Rewards members also get 2x points all month during the member’s birth month.

This feature used to be automatic – customers just receive double the points every time they shop throughout their birthday month. However, members now have to activate this offer to enjoy the extra points.
