With the following ways of getting free gas, you can now enjoy hitting the pump and filling up your tank without having to watch the numbers creep up higher and higher… at least every now and then.

1. Shop at Grocery Stores with Fuel Rewards

If you haven’t signed up for your grocery store’s Rewards Program, then, I suggest that you do now because that can be your ticket towards having free gas at any gas station.

Grocery store loyalty programs work similarly nationwide.

You buy your groceries…

You show your card at the counter… and

You earn points in return.

Eventually, your points could be turned into cash, be used to pay for your groceries, or redeemed for free gas.

And for the record, there are also grocery chains nationwide, as well as in particular regions in the country that specifically offer fuel rewards.

You can make better use of your points by shopping at these stores. Some of these grocery stores are Safeway, Kroger and Albertsons.

2. Join Swagbucks

Sign up for Swagbucks for free and start earning points for answering surveys, shopping online, watching videos, and more.

Gather enough points and redeem them for free gift cards to over 100 retailers, as well as to gas stations like Exxon, Chevron, and Sunoco.

You can also transfer your earnings to your PayPal account and use it to pay for gas.

3. Do Simple Tasks on InboxDollars

InboxDollars is similar to Swagbucks, but instead of giving members points every time they do some tasks, they give them cash.

That’s right!

InboxDollars rewards members with real cash by doing simple things like answering surveys, watching videos, reading emails, playing games, shopping online, redeeming free food and grocery coupons, and a lot more.

Members can have their earnings sent to their PayPal account, and of course, they have the liberty to use that cash to get free fuel.

4. Use Credit Card Rewards

If you are still planning to get your first credit card or to get another one, it’s a good idea to look at some that offer cashback on gas purchases.

American Express Blue Cash Preferred gives 3% cashback at gas stations, and 6% at US supermarkets.

You can use the accumulated money from your gas purchases towards buying gas in the future.

Now, here’s a trick that you can use next time. Some grocery stores offer gift cards to the local gas station.

Other credit cards that offer gas rewards are Bank of America Cash Rewards, Capital One QuicksilverOne Cash Rewards, Chase Freedom Card, and Discover It Secured.

5. Check Out Gas Station Rewards Programs

Grocery stores and credit card companies are not the only ones that offer gas rewards, some gas stations also have their own fuel rewards program.

BP Driver Rewards offers 10 cents off per gallon for every $100 that you spend on fuel purchases of up to 20 gallons.

Earn points every time you buy fuel and merchandise with your Speedway Rewards card. You can redeem your accumulated points for discounts on fuel with Fuel Rewards.

Another one is with Shell Fuel Rewards, where you can save 5 cents for every gallon on every fill-up at Shell. You can also get 5 cents off per gallon for every $50 that you spend shopping online and 10 cents off per gallon for every $50 that you spend at participating restaurants.

Other gas station rewards programs that you can check out are Exxon Mobil Rewards, Maverik’s Adventure Club, and 76 Kickback Rewards.

6. Use Cashback Sites and Apps

Ibotta and Rakuten are two popular cashback platforms that you can try to save on fuel.

With Ibotta, you can get cashback through your everyday purchases like apparel, groceries, and so on.

Get the browser extension and download the app to start getting cashback (not points) whenever you shop.

Start feeling the joy of cashback with Rakuten by installing the button on your browser and opening an account.

When you are in the mood for shopping, go to your desktop or laptop and let the Rakuten button find the deal for you.

While shopping at your favorite online store, the browser extension will inform you of any available cashback.

And as your cashback grows, you can decide to get paid via PayPal.

Finally, you can use the money that you will earn to pay for gas.

7. Put Ads on Your Car

Another easy way on how to get free gas at the pump is by making your car a walking billboard or by putting ads on your car.

You can drive monthly income by doing this with brands such as Carvertise, Wrapify, PayMeForDriving, and Free Car Media.

The average monthly earnings for putting ads on your car range from $100 to $400.

That amount could definitely help cover a part of your monthly fuel expenses.

8. Use Travel Rebates

If you travel regularly whether for business or pleasure, try staying at hotels and B&Bs that offer gas cards or fuel credits.

For instance, Best Western lets their customers gather points by staying at their qualifying Best Western hotels.

And once they’ve gathered enough points, they can opt to redeem those points for gas cards at Exxon or Shell gas stations.

9. Reach Out to Local Charities and Community Groups

If push comes to shove and you can just say, “I need gas and have no money,” you can reach out to local charities, and community groups.

Sometimes, Salvation Army provides gas vouchers to those in need.

Another well-known charitable organization is the United Way.

You can make use of their 211 program, which is a free, confidential service that helps people across the USA in finding resources that they need, such as free or low-cost gas.

A lot of local churches and religious organizations offer assistance to low-income families with things like gas, car repairs, rent, and more.
